Q 778: The Pride of England

This is something that happened in the year 1985, rather, one of two HUGE events in the music world dedicated to a cause(mostly in Africa at that time). It featured all the biggies.

Call this __Z__.

Now, there came this band __X___ who played for some 20 odd minutes.
Some regard this little cameo to be their crowning glory, or at least that of their front man. They started off with one of their huge hits, __Y__ but there were rules pre-set. The event did not allow

  • Sound-checks.
  • Playback of previously recorded pieces.
Owing to these difficulties, __Y__ couldn't be played to completion.
So, they mixed things up and played another hugely popular song, and incidentally, the name of which inspired a crazy "female" to kick start her musical career.

In spite of the risks of messing up existing, the band went on to steal the show.

Question 746: Heaven or Hell

Glenn Frey described the origins of the song:
The song began as a demo tape, an instrumental by Don Felder. He’d been submitting tapes and song ideas to us since he’d joined the band, always instrumentals, since he didn’t sing. But this particular demo, unlike many of the others, had room for singing. It immediately got our attention. The first working title, the name we gave it, was ‘Mexican Reggae'.
ID the song
#brownie for the band

Question 474: Shaken up after seeing this

The following is a clip from a video by Celine Dion, doing a cover of a song __Y__ by a Band __X__.
If you can bear through the video, ID X and Y.

Or, for those unable to stand such an indignation to that wondrous institution unto itself, __X__, here is a text of the question.

__Y__ is a signature song from successful album ____Z____ (no need to ID it). It was number 10 on the top 100 songs of the 80's, and considered the band's best song by VH1 (another reason no-one cares about VH1 rankings). The song itself relates to a story with of the lead singer with a lady, and what they did inspired the name of the song, __Y__.
