Question 533: Cost and worth and terms and conditions.

 Okay, so there's this classic story about this guy and how he's willing to give up everything that matters to him, or what he thinks shouldn't matter to him, in return for something which he believes is more valuable. Over the years this tale has been retold and has undergone some changes and has had a few different endings.
